How far in advance should I book?

In this tour, you join our John o'Groats tour but visit the Castle of Mey (using a local taxi service) as an alternative to the cliff visit of the JoG trip.
Dates available in 2010:
April: 1 & 4;
May & June: all Sundays & Thursdays;
July: 1, 4, 8, 11, 15, 18, 22, 25;
August: 12, 15, 19, 22, 26, 29;
September: all Sundays & Thursdays;
October: 3, 7, 10, 14 & 17

Itineray. You join our John o'Groats trip leaving Castle Wynd at 0915. The itinerary is the same as for the JoG trip (including lunch arrangements) until we get to Keiss about 1345 hrs. Here you transfer to the local taxi hirer and go to the Castle of Mey. You rejoin the Nor'West trip at JoG about 1650 hrs, having had 1¼-1½ hours at the castle and other facilities.

Cost of taxi. £ 35 for 1/2 passengers, £ 40 for 3/4 passengers - that is, of course, for whole taxi not per person!;

Please telephone us (click here for our number and office hours) or send an e-mail Nor'West Tours with details of your party (how many people; ages) and we'll give you an exact price. A couple of examples:

A party of four seniors doing the full castle/grounds visit would cost £ 51.50 per person; £ 43.50 per person if booked at discounted rate before 28 Feb. Cost would drop to £ 47 per person (£ 39 per person if booked at discounted rate before 28 Feb) for any member of party who visits the gardens & grounds only;

Two adults doing the full castle/grounds visit - this would cost £ 120 in total (£ 60 per person) or £ 104 (£ 52 per person) if booked at discounted rate before 28 Feb.

Payment. To secure a place/places on this trip we need:

Payment for the appropriate JoG tour + £ 10 deposit against the taxi hire;

You pay the balance of the taxi hire direct to the driver on the day of the tour;

In all cases you pay your admission to the Castle of Mey direct at the castle itself.
