Private day tours from Inverness to Orkney or Lewis

I am the only operator offering day trips from Inverness to Orkney year-round and to Lewis from late June to mid-September. Thus it may seem strange for me to suggest that, if you have the time, I feel you should devote more than a day to these islands. However, if you have only a day to spend then I can give you a quality, in-depth experience. Though not a professional archaeologist I have:

  • read widely on the subject as it pertains to the Highkands & Islands;
  • visited many prehistoric sites in mainland Scotland as well in the Northern Isles (Orkney and Shetland) and Western Isles (Hebrides);
  • also visited a considerable number of prehistoric sites in England; France; and Ireland, including Stonehenge, Avebury, Silbury Hill, West Kennet Long Barrow, Carnac and Newgrange.
    Thus, I not only tell you about the prehistoric sites in the islands, but relate them to sites elsewhere in the British Isles. In Orkney we also see many features relating to the World Wars.

    Both these day trips cost several hundred pounds involving, as they do, ferries and a long day. If you come with a party of 4 it greatly reduces the price per head.
